If you've lived in Sarasota for even one summer, you know October feels different. The air gets a little lighter, the afternoon downpours back off, and for the first time in months you can stand outside without wilting. It's also, quietly, the best time of year to deal with your windows.
Here's why I tell people not to wait until the holidays, and what I'd look at on your home right now.
June through September is hard on glass. Daily humidity, pollen, rain splatter, and sprinkler overspray all dry onto the surface, and in a lot of cases they bake in. By October, most homes have a haze they've stopped noticing, plus mineral spotting where the sprinklers hit the same pane day after day. The sooner those deposits come off, the easier they are to remove, because left alone they can start to etch into the glass.
๐ก Hurricane season isn't over until November 30. Cleaning now doesn't mean you can't clean again after a storm. If something comes through, I'm happy to take a look at salt residue, debris, and screens once conditions are safe.
Here's what a summer of buildup can look like on glass, and what it looks like once it's cleaned off.

This is the part people forget. October is when a lot of Sarasota homeowners finally shut off the AC and open the house up. That's when dirty tracks and dusty screens become obvious, because everything you didn't see all summer is now getting airflow. Getting the glass, screens, and tracks sorted first means the first cool morning is something you enjoy instead of something you clean up after.
๐ง Torn or sagging window screens? I do window rescreening: I take the screen back to my shop, replace the mesh, and return it within 7 days. It's mesh replacement only, not frame repair. See how screen rescreening works โ

Request My Free Quote โYes โ it's one of the best. Humidity starts to drop, afternoon storms taper off, and any film, salt, or sprinkler staining built up over the summer can be cleaned off before the dry season. It's also ahead of the November and December rush, when schedules fill up fast.
You don't have to. Cleaning now means you're not living with a summer's worth of buildup for another two months, and a clean pane makes it easier to see problems like sagging screens or failing seals. If a named storm does come through, I can come back for a follow-up once things settle.
Yes. Salt spray, debris, and heavy residue are common after a storm, especially closer to the coast. I'll look at the glass, screens, and tracks and let you know what's needed. Please don't schedule while there's still standing water or unsafe conditions on the property.
Yes. I take damaged screens back to my shop, replace the mesh, and return them within 7 days. I replace mesh only, not frames. October is a good time to do it, before you start opening windows for the cooler months.
